Spusu is primarily known in Austria as a mobile network provider with fair tariffs and fast service. In 2022, the company expanded its commitment to the field of bicycle mobility. While it initially started with e-bikes, the product range now also includes sporty bicycles without electric assistance.

Since 2024, all bicycles have been manufactured in the company's own workshop in Wolkersdorf. The bicycles are TÜV-certified, individually configurable, and come with a comprehensive service package. This includes personal delivery, on-site individual adjustment, as well as a free pick-up and drop-off service for the also free initial service.

For the 2025/26 model year, spusu is presenting an even more versatile product range. It now spans from the comfortable step-through e-bike starting at 3,490 Euros, to the E-Mountainbike Deore 1x12 starting at 6,650 Euros, to sporty hardtails, race fullys, gravel bikes, and road bikes with high-quality equipment.

About spusu

Spusu is an Austrian mobile network provider and has been a fixed part of the domestic market since 2015. The name stands for "speak and surf" - short, memorable, and entirely in line with the company's philosophy: communication should be simple, honest, and transparent. Calls and internet usage are made via the Drei network. Spusu was founded by Dipl.-Ing. Franz Pichler, who continues to lead the company as owner and managing director.

With the motto "Mobile service without hidden costs", spusu has made a name for itself. And not just with attractive tariffs, but also with customer service that is genuinely accessible. Most inquiries are resolved within a few minutes. It’s no surprise then that the company has been repeatedly awarded as a test winner. Today, spusu counts around 700,000 customers in Austria, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, employs over 300 staff, and generated a revenue of 81 million euros in 2024.

In the meantime, spusu has expanded far beyond mobile services: in addition to the development of regional fiber-optic infrastructure and its own wine division, the company has also been dedicated to bicycle manufacturing since 2022. In its in-house workshop in Wolkersdorf, Lower Austria, high-quality bikes are developed, built, sold, and serviced.

The bikes are available in stores in Vienna, Baden, Vöcklabruck, and Wolkersdorf or online.

We want to make mobility as simple and high-quality as our tariffs. With the spusu bikes, we focus on regionality, top components, and unique support that excites.

Spusu Road Bike Ultegra Di2

All Bio-Bikes are based on lightweight carbon frames from a renowned manufacturer in China. Similarities to other brands are not intentional but are hard to overlook. Apart from the origin of the frames, spusu – similar to the Austrian brand KTM – focuses on keeping as much value creation as possible within the country. The frames arrive in Wolkersdorf unpainted and are then painted and stickered by a partner company. Those willing to wait about 14 days longer for their bike can even order a custom paint job for a reasonable additional fee. Not only are different colors possible, but also individual designs or lettering. The only condition: the spusu logo must remain on the downtube, in whatever color.

Geometry

Across all frame sizes, the geometry clearly exhibits a sporty character. Relatively short chainstays and compact wheelbases ensure agility, while the combination of steep seat angles and reasonable head tube lengths creates a balanced blend of efficiency and comfort, depending on the size. This is designed to provide an appropriate riding position for both smaller riders with compact proportions and taller riders with more stack.

Our test bike in size 54 sits in the middle of the range. With a stack of 557 mm and a reach of 381 mm, it offers a sporty-neutral fit that allows for a slightly stretched but not extreme riding position. The seat angle of 74° positions the rider efficiently over the bottom bracket, which is beneficial for climbing sections. The head angle of 73° combined with the 45 mm fork offset delivers direct and precise steering.

The geometry of the size 54 is primarily aimed at sporty riders with a height of approximately 170 to 180 cm, who are looking for a classic road bike geometry for training, ambitious tours, and races while valuing a direct and very agile riding experience.

Particularly striking is the enormous stiffness of the frame and fork, which ensures exceptional sprint strength and high steering precision. Together with the crisp geometry, the bike delivers very agile handling, supporting quick directional changes and sprint-ready acceleration. A small note: Due to the relatively steep head angle in combination with the mounted wide tires, there can be toe overlap during tight steering maneuvers – when the front wheel is turned sharply, the shoe can quickly come into contact with the tire.

Test: DT Swiss ARC 1100 DICUT 55

With the third generation of the ARC 1100 DICUT DB , DT Swiss brings its most versatile aero setup to the road yet. The wheels are offered in 55, 65, and 85 millimeter rim heights. All models share the 180 DICUT hub with Ratchet EXP system, SINC ceramic bearings, and the new DT aerolite II spokes. The entire setup was developed with a clear goal: greater aerodynamic efficiency, improved ride stability, and a balanced combination of weight and stiffness, tailored to various use cases.

For our review, we had a wheelset with a 55-millimeter rim height at our disposal, equipped with a Continental AERO 111 in 29C at the front and a Continental GP 5000 S TR in 30C at the rear. The setup was complemented by matching TPU tubes from Continental.

DT Swiss ARC 1100 DICUT 55 WTS

That wider tires are increasingly being used in professional cycling is no longer a secret. However, for them to reach their full potential, an appropriate internal rim width is required. The new ARC models feature an internal width of 22 millimeters. Technically, an even wider design would have been possible, but the focus was on achieving perfect compatibility with the 29-millimeter-wide AERO 111 tire, which has now established itself as the new aero standard.

A larger internal width directly affects the frontal area of the wheel. To compensate for the associated aerodynamic disadvantages, DT Swiss relies on a V-shaped rim profile. According to wind tunnel tests, this design not only delivers the lowest measured base drag but also reduces steering torque. The result is stable and controlled handling that impresses even in crosswinds.

ARC 55 – Aerodynamics & Handling in a Comparative Review

Detailansicht
* For a fair comparison, all wheels were tested with the same 28 mm wide GP 5000s TR tire. The ARC 1100 DICUT 55 was also tested with the 29 mm AERO 111 tire.

In direct comparison to Hunt, Campagnolo, and Zipp, the ARC 1100 DICUT 55 shows the lowest measured drag value in terms of frontal base air resistance. The sail effect at extreme yaw angles is somewhat more moderate compared to some competitors. However, this brings a decisive advantage: more control during the so-called flow separation (stalling), i.e., the detachment of airflow from the rim. This improved rideability is evident in this comparison through the lowest steering moment and an especially flat curve progression.

In combination with the 29-millimeter-wide AERO 111 tire (dashed line), there is another advantage: a sail-induced reduction in drag while maintaining consistent and well-controllable steering moments across the entire yaw angle range.

The details were not skimped on either. Thanks to the in-house modular system and the pooled expertise, all components were precisely matched to each other. The goal was a wheelset that not only impresses aerodynamically but also offers first-class ride performance. The specially aero-optimized spokes make an important contribution to this. Their number has been reduced to 20 on the front wheel, which slightly lowers air resistance while also saving weight.

In the coming weeks, we will ride the wheels as often as possible under a variety of conditions. Our focus is on everyday usability and durability. When it comes to aerodynamics, however, we have no choice but to rely on the data provided by DT Swiss. Thanks to the detailed analyses, it should still be easy for aero enthusiasts to assess the performance according to their own requirements.

For us personally, aside from aerodynamics, two points are particularly important: high stiffness and minimal susceptibility to crosswinds.

If you want to ride fast but aren't afraid of steeper climbs, go for the 55 mm version.
