Lighter, stiffer, and more aerodynamic than ever before – the fully integrated Scott Addict RC Disc is designed to meet the demands of ambitious amateur riders and Tour de France pros alike.

In the Bikeboard.at Showroom, two of the brand-new Addict RC Pro racing bikes are making their brilliant debut for the long-term review - one with NoPain's complete bike including mechanical Dura-Ace and the other with NoFlash's noble custom build including electronic Dura-Ace Di2 - their brilliant start. What the "Disc only" carbon rockets from the Swiss can do, weigh, and cost, and what to look out for when assembling it yourself, is revealed in the following article.

In addition to the long-term test bike, the Bikeboard editorial team treated themselves to an Addict RC Pro Disc frame/fork set made of HMX carbon. Scott calls its second-highest quality carbon fiber HMX, which is supposed to have over 20 percent more stiffness than an HMF fiber of the same weight class and, moreover, is supposed to be more robust than the HMX-SL with nano-technology. Thus, it's the ideal compromise for racers and those with a heavy hand like our proud Addict RC owner NoFlash.

NoFlash was moreover more than just thrilled with the quality of the frameset. Where possible, aluminum inlays were avoided; the front derailleur mount, the integrated rear derailleur hanger, and the seatpost clamp are very well thought out, and the frame design has been consistently reduced to the essentials - apart from the pornographic paint job. For the widest possible range of gears, a long and a short rear derailleur hanger were included.

The wiring itself was manageable with some dexterity and patience even for a layperson, but without specialized tools it was no child's play. Although laying the hydraulic brake lines and Shimano Di2 cables through the frame and fork wasn't too big of a challenge, the task became much more difficult with the handlebar-stem combination. It was only with a homemade pulling aid made from soft, electrical wires that NoFlash succeeded, after many failed attempts, in pulling all the cables through the correct path. Alternatively, our editor recommends to ambitious imitators the ParkTool assembly set "IR-1.2 for internal cable routing" or a SRAM eTap AXS.

He found the feature with the aerodynamically shaped spacers optimally solved, which due to their split design can be added or left out completely without any problems even during or after cabling. Afterwards, the efforts of the assembly were quickly forgotten and according to his own statements, NoFlash falls in love anew with the Syncros Creston iC SL Carbon Combo on every ride.

Especially beautiful and definitely worth mentioning: Despite the fully integrated cables, the steering angle is in no way restricted. Exemplary, grade A+.

As a temporary showstopper, mounting both brakes proved to be a challenge. While the front 160 mm Flatmount Disc did not require an adapter, one was indeed needed for the rear - unless one would have been satisfied with 140 mm. Another negative surprise were the screws supplied with the brakes, which all turned out to be too short for the Addict. Because the fork and the left chain stay were so massively shaped, one needed three Shimano mounting screws Flatmount Type C 35 mm (Y-8N208040; screw length 48 mm) and one Flatmount Type C 30 mm (Y-8N208030; screw length 43 mm). Obtaining these was extremely difficult and time-consuming during Corona & Co.

And one final tip: Scott uses a sophisticated mix of hex and Torx screws. Therefore, in case of a defect during a ride, suitable tools are required. With the Syncros Matchbox Coupe Cage HP2.0 bottle holder, for example, one would always have everything on hand.
