Rose Backroad CF Gravel Bike 2026

When Rose introduced the first Backroad in 2018, it was immediately clear: the team from Bocholt had hit the zeitgeist. No other drop-bar bike from the brand sold as well, and updates and color variants kept the bestseller fresh for years, making it synonymous for many with the "one" gravel bike that could do it all. But then came the Backroad FF: With its low-slung race geometry, aero details, and uncompromising focus on speed, Rose suddenly introduced tough competition within its own lineup. Fast, aerodynamic, ruthlessly efficient – perfect for speed, but not for grand adventures with bags, dynamo lighting, and everyday commuting.

Now comes the logical next step: The brand-new Rose Backroad 2026, available in either aluminum or carbon versions, is no longer just an accessible all-rounder but also an uncompromising adventure bike. A bike for long, unsupported journeys where power supply, storage space, and robust details are more important than the last watt-minute on Strava. Rose combines storage space in the frame, smart power solutions with a hub dynamo and power bank, as well as custom luggage solutions – transforming the Backroad into a strong companion for adventures on and off the road.

We had the opportunity to test it during the Rose Adventure Summit in the Dutch Veluwezoom National Park – and can confirm: The adventure begins right in the down tube.

The Supernova M99 DY PRO is the first dynamo-powered LED headlight with high beam and German road approval. Thanks to innovative control electronics and a matrix of 9 power LEDs, it achieves up to 1,000 lumens and 200 lux – values that were previously reserved for high-performance e-bike headlights. Once mounted, the headlight is completely maintenance-free. It automatically adjusts the light intensity depending on speed and lights up during the ride as soon as the SON hub dynamo is activated via the Supernova Power Switch.

It is complemented by the Supernova TL3 MINI rear light. Ultra-compact, waterproof, and lightweight, it ensures an extremely bright, homogeneous light signature with high recognition value thanks to High-Density LED technology.

The centerpiece of the self-sufficient power supply is the Busch+Müller K-Werk, a powerful power bank with a dynamo connection. The integrated 5,000 mAh lithium-ion battery stores the electricity generated by the dynamo and delivers it evenly and with minimal fluctuations to devices such as smartphones, GPS devices, or action cameras – optionally even while stationary, without riding.

The housing is splash and rainwater-proof, and the USB cover protects against dirt and moisture. A five-level LED indicator provides information about the charge level. The K-Werk is attached to the Rose Backroad with a Velcro strap on the down tube. In addition to the dynamo, it can also be charged traditionally via Micro-USB at a power outlet.

The Rose Frame Bag and the Rose Top Tube Bag for the new Backroad CF combine storage space and aerodynamics. Thanks to the magnet-mechanical Fidlock system, the bags are securely fixed to the frame, can be clicked in blindly, and removed again with a twisting motion. They fit seamlessly, do not rattle, and remain reliably in place even on rough gravel sections. There is a suitable model for each frame size, which integrates cleanly into the frame design with side Aero Flaps.

With water-repellent material, high-quality YKK zippers, and enough space for a rain jacket, snacks, or a spare tube, the bags are practical companions for training rides as well as long bikepacking tours.

Practical: With two additional Fidlock TWIST bike bases on the seat tube and down tube, two Fidlock water bottles can still be used despite the mounted Frame Bag, as there is enough space below the bag.
