Velotoze has responded to feedback from professionals and amateurs: The infamous road bike overshoes have been comprehensively revised. The proven, lightweight latex material, which is waterproof and windproof, remains the heart of the design but has been reinforced in the sole and toe areas to improve durability. Additionally, the Velotoze 2.0 Tall Shoe Covers offer significantly easier handling. The reinforcements at critical points and the larger opening for the cleats make it easier to put them on, while the seamless construction without zippers or Velcro fasteners and the compact design allow for effortless storage in a jersey or saddlebag.
The excellent protection against water and wind remains unchanged, as the overshoes fit extremely snugly around the calves and shoes, keeping feet dry at temperatures down to 5°C. As a positive side effect, both the material and the tight fit reduce air resistance - Velotoze reports a wind tunnel-measured savings of 4.47 watts at 40 km/h.
We have tested the overshoes at temperatures below and above 20°C on the gravel bike as well as on the road bike and the time trial bike for you.

The predecessors in comparison: Velotoze 1.0
Velotoze 1.0
The previous Velotoze overshoes were a real challenge to put on: First, the socks were put on, then the Velotoze were slipped over and rolled up to the calf. After that, the shoes were put on, and finally, the Velotoze were pulled over the shoes from above. This process was not only cumbersome but also took significantly longer than with conventional overshoes. It was therefore advisable to plan more time and avoid contact with sharp objects, as the material was thin and delicate, almost like a balloon.
However, once the Velotoze were correctly in place, there was no longer any risk of them slipping, as the latex material clung very tightly to the shoes and calves. However, fine-tuning the shoe closures with the Velotoze was hardly possible.
Fritz Rautner's road and TT review
The new model of the Velotoze silicone overshoes stands out clearly at first glance: the reinforced round closures at the leg and sole area as well as the black snap buttons in the middle of the sole immediately catch the eye.
Despite the expected ease of putting them on, I decided to treat the overshoes with talcum powder first. I can absolutely recommend this, as it prevents the material from sticking to skin or cycling shoes. As usual, you first pull the overshoe over the ankle and then put on the cycling shoe. After that, you simply pull the Velotoze over the shoe - which is much easier thanks to the open sole up to the toe than with previous models. Close the two snap buttons, and you're done!
Instructions Velotoze Road 2.0
1. First, put on the sock and then slip into the overshoe before putting on the cycling shoe.
2. Insert the foot through the large hole at the bottom (snap buttons opened) and pull the overshoe up to the ankle.
3. Now put on the cycling shoe and pull the overshoe first over the heel, then over the toe of the shoe.
4. Close the snap buttons and make sure that no part of the overshoe lies over the pedal plate or heel pad.
Note: Pull the upper part of the overshoe over your sock to create a waterproof seal. During rainy rides, leg warmers should be worn over the overshoes.
The area of the overshoe that rests on the shoe sole has been reinforced, so there is no risk of anything tearing due to the snap buttons. Overall, the material appears more robust, which is additionally supported by the reinforced edges to resist tears and other damages.
Removing the new model is very convenient compared to its predecessor and no longer requires special effort. Careful stretching to get the overshoe over the shoe tip is no longer necessary.
Pavelderzugs Gravel Review
Due to the midsummer temperatures, I was only able to try the overshoes once during a rainy gravel ride. Basically, I am familiar with the Velotoze overshoes from time trials, before aerodynamically optimized overshoes and aero socks became popular. It was always a kind of love-hate relationship: they were fast, but putting them on was tedious and felt almost like part of the warm-up. Additionally, they didn't last long, as they often tore after just a few uses (often when putting them on). With the new system, which uses snap buttons on the sole for closure, this should now be significantly improved. The material also seems thicker.
During the ride, the new overshoes certainly fulfilled their task: Neither moisture nor mud penetrated from the outside. However, nothing came out from the inside either, which means it can get quite sweaty on warmer days.
Care instructions
1. To clean the overshoes, simply wipe them with a damp cloth or rinse them with water. Do not wash overshoes in the washing machine.
2. To dry, simply wipe the overshoes with a dry cloth.
3. Apply baby powder / talcum powder to prevent sticking.
4. Do not dry overshoes in the dryer.
5. Avoid contact with sharp objects.
6. Do not store in direct sunlight.

Velotoze has extensively revised its Road Overshoes 2.0 to improve their durability and comfort. The innovations include two press studs on the underside, an improved surface coating, and reinforcements in particularly stressed areas. The proven material base of lightweight, water- and windproof natural rubber remains, ensuring dry and warm feet in rain and temperatures down to 5°C. The overshoes offer a smooth, supple fit and an aerodynamic surface that optimally deflects the wind. They are also available in many different colors and cut variations.
Purchase Tip: While a larger size was often the better choice with the previous model, it might be sensible to choose one size smaller for the Velotoze Road Overshoes 2.0, depending on the build of the cycling shoes, than recommended in the size chart.
Rain Tip #1: To prevent water from entering the shoe from below, remove the insole and seal the ventilation opening.
Rain Tip #2: Ensure that the overshoes are pulled over the socks and placed under the leg warmers to guarantee a waterproof seal.
