And then it gets dark. Or foggy. Or it’s simply required. Meaning: a light is needed. Even during the day. The good news: with the new BBB Slice 300 front light there’s an elegant solution for that.
The compact LED lamp is mounted directly between the bike computer and the mount and thus virtually disappears from the rider’s field of view. Thanks to the Twist-&-Click system it is fully compatible with Garmin and Wahoo mounts. Just click it in, put the computer on top – and the tidy setup is done. Barely visible, yet clearly noticeable in road traffic with up to 300 lumens of light output. One button, six modes. Five side LEDs additionally provide visibility and indicate both the battery level and the active mode.
Hard to see, but impossible to overlook.

Compatibility and installation options
The BBB Slice 300 has mounting adapters on its top and bottom that are compatible with quarter-turn mounts for bike computers and with mounts from Garmin and Wahoo. While the "Manderl" can be rotated by 90 degrees, both versions of the "Weiberl" are included with the product.
This allows the headlight to be mounted discreetly beneath the bike computer, alternatively in place of the computer or, depending on the mount, below the bracket. There's hardly any limit to the imagination.

How it works
A short press of the button while switched off shows the battery level. Five dots indicate 100 percent, one dot 20 percent. A long press turns the light on. Afterwards a short click can be used to change the mode; another long press turns the light off. The memory function remembers the last-used mode.
Depending on the mode, a full battery lasts between four hours (in "High mode") and up to 30 hours (in "Low mode"). The "Day Flash" runs for 25 hours, the "Steady Flash" about 10 hours.
As soon as the battery level runs low, the Slice 300 automatically switches to flash mode. This so-called "Runtime Safety Mode" extends run time by up to four hours and cannot be disabled for safety reasons.

| BB verdict: | Hardly noticeable, but not to be overlooked. |
The BBB Slice 300 front light is aimed at anyone who wants to be safe during daytime and twilight without ruining the look of their cockpit. Visibility in darkness to the front and to the sides is excellent. However, for illuminating the roadway itself it should only be considered an emergency solution.
It may possibly be just acceptable in the city with street lighting and reduced speed on the cycle path. From our point of view, however, this is by no means a recommendation. Therefore, in the dark the LED should always be combined with a full-fledged headlight or a helmet light. In our setup we simply mount the Garmin Varia front light underneath.
Functionality, run time and compatibility with bike computers and adapters are exemplary and deliver in practice what the manufacturer promises. You might consider opting for the complete BBB rechargeable light set with the Slice 300 and the Signal rear light for €69.99 instead of just the front light. We couldn't test the rear light, but it looks at least as stylish as the Slice and fits perfectly into the tidy overall look.
