Actually, the Bikeboard was intended as a communication partner and jury member for the Odlo photo competition. But then we learned more about the exciting motivations and the great opportunities for the participating teams. And, to be honest, the prize money made us a little envious too. So we quickly decided to throw our jury role overboard and instead put together our own team of four for the competition. But now, for the record...
Odlo Freewheeling Photo Contest
Do you have a knack for photography, feel at home on two wheels, and have at least three friends with the same passion? Then the Odlo Freewheeling Photo Competition offers you the perfect opportunity to get creative and win an attractive cash prize.
Essentially, it's about going on photo tours as a team of four (one photographer and three dedicated teammates), selecting exciting locations, and capturing fascinating, amusing, and impressive images for the four different categories ("The Unexpected", "Self Discovery", "Shared Experiences", and "Small Treats").
Submit your portfolio in time and have it evaluated by the Odlo honorary jury. The team with the most votes wins the grand prize, but from a material standpoint, all participants are true winners.
The prices
Each team presents a portfolio of 20 to 30 photos to the Odlo honorary jury, including a representative photo for each of the four designated categories.
The three best teams will be awarded a cash prize depending on the number of votes received. The total sum of CHF 10,000 is distributed as follows:
- First Prize: CHF 5,000
- Second Prize: CHF 3,000
- Third Prize: CHF 2,000
Terms of Participation (abridged version)
- The competition is open to individuals aged 18 and over with good photography skills.
- Registrations can be submitted from August 8, 2024, to August 23, 2024, at 11:59 PM. Registrations after this time will not be considered.
- To be automatically considered for selection as a participant, the registration form must be completed in full.
- Applications from individuals with access to professional photography equipment, including a full-frame camera with suitable lenses, will be given preferential treatment.
- The selected participants will be notified by email no later than August 28, 2024.
- Determination of the winners: The Odlo jury will select the best images from the submissions by December 15, 2024. The awarded teams and the distribution of prize money will be announced at this time.

Our plan is a 3-day gravel bikepacking trip from the Loisium Hotel Langenlois to the Loisium Hotel in Southern Styria. We will ride exclusively with Trek gravel bikes, without a support vehicle, and wear Odlo gravel apparel. Fun and the best photos are the focus. The route will be recorded with GPS, and we will create a tour report for our online magazine.
Timeframe: End of October 2024
Participants: NoMan (Editor), Mister M (Wine Expert), NoPain (Beer Expert), and NoSane (Photographer)
Goal: To participate (but a little prize money to cover the fixed costs wouldn't be bad either)

Mission completed
The battle is over, and both people and machines have returned healthy and safe from the Unsupported "From Loisium to Loisium" bikepacking adventure. More than 300 tough gravel kilometers - from the Loisium Hotel Ehrenhausen over the Turnauer Höhe and Annaberg to the Loisium in Langenlois - were to be tackled. In the luggage: four Trek gravel bikes, equipped with Ortlieb racks, Contec bags, Variolube-maintained chains, and the finest threads from Odlo. Bars, gels, and drink powders from Winforce, as well as Chardonnay from the Loisium Wine World, rounded off the spectacle.
As a result, we brought home six cover stories (Loisium Tour Story, Trek Checkpoint vs. Checkmate Bikepacking Comparison, Variolube Extreme Test, Contec & Ortlieb Luggage Solution, Winforce Taste Test, and Odlo Gravelwear 2025 Review) as well as the four themed photos for the "Odlo Freewheeling Photo Contest."
Now we have to wait to see how the jury will decide.
