FSA Gravel Adventure Components

FSA's revamped flagship of their road bike handlebars is now fully compatible with the Aerodynamic Integrated Cable Routing (ACR) as well as Semi-Integrated Cable Routing systems. This means that all cables can either be completely or partially routed internally, while still having the option to route them externally.

In addition to improved ergonomics for gravel riding with a short reach and outward-facing handlebar bends, the full carbon handlebar is also supposed to feature a structurally reinforced clamping area. As a result, it not only withstands the higher forces of the disciplines Adventure, Gravel, and Cyclocross, but is also compatible with the company's own vibration-damped stem.

Note on the FSA width specifications (center-to-center): The K-WING AGX width of 44 cm (440 + 49 mm = 489 mm) corresponds approximately to the specified width of 42 cm of other manufacturers, whose gravel handlebars are more flared out. For example, the Easton EC70 AX at 42 cm (420 + 68 mm) achieves a nearly equivalent total width of 488 mm at the handlebar ends.

FSA K-WING AGX CARBON

The newly developed gravel stem offers high vibration damping, achieved through a 360-degree isolation of the handlebar. An elastomer encloses the clamping area of the handlebar and reduces shocks to the rider's hands, wrists, and arms by up to 47% better than a conventional stem. The FSA ST AGX VAS comes with three differently damping elastomers for "Race," "Sport," and "Comfort.

Attention: Special caution is required with carbon or lightweight handlebars, especially if they are equipped with holes for internal cable routing in the central clamping area. If necessary, consultation with the respective manufacturer should be sought. In any case, we advise against tightening the internal stem clamp excessively.

FSA ST AGX VAS Stem

A technical highlight is the light and compact FSA Flowtron seat post, now also available in the road bike-typical diameter of 27.2 mm. Included in the delivery is a mechanically actuated remote lever, which can be easily mounted on the drop handlebar and comfortably operated while riding. Additionally, the response behavior can be adjusted in three stages using the actuator spring integrated in the post.

The one-piece stanchion-clamp-head unit features a sealed lightweight metal cartridge, a sliding bearing system with brass guide pins, and a particularly low clamping height.

Since the nipple of the internal cable is hooked onto the post, only remote levers compatible with clamping the bare cable end can be used. Therefore, Shimano's mechanical GRX levers with the dropper post pivot function are not suitable.

However, we have found a method to attach the cable to the mechanism of the Flowtron post without a nipple and without modifying any parts of the post. All that is needed is a metal sleeve, a small clamping nipple, and a Bowden cable that is long enough to use this technique.
