Fidlock TWIST X KEEGO Water Bottles

I have known Fidlocks TWIST bottles since their first generation and have also been using KEEGO's "Dark Matter" water bottle with a 0.75 liter capacity for many years. Both products are pricey, but they also have their justification. Both products function flawlessly after some detailed improvements. In my opinion, the TWIST mechanism is unquestionable anyway, as its handling offers incredible freedoms and even without the mounted bottle, the frame or the bike always looks super chic and tidy. Even squeezing both bottles and subsequently the valve flow are absolutely fine with the current models, although they should not be described as "especially easy to operate." However, the function itself is okay.

However, the combination of the "elastic titanium" of the bottle and the TWIST mechanism with the stainless steel ring probably multiplied the resistance so much that the claims "easily squeezable" and "effortless, quick, and one-handed drinking" simply do not correspond to reality. Although the bottle can still be intuitively released from the holder by a simple turning motion and reattached to the bike by simply bringing the magnets together, with one hand it was extremely difficult for us - and nearly impossible with thicker gloves - to squeeze enough water out of the TWIST X KEEGO Bottle.

But enough with the criticism: Those who can live with the described drawback will benefit not only from the design, weight, the precise removal mechanism, and the completely odor-free and microplastic-free bottle, but also from a very soft, drip-proof mouthpiece and the easy-to-clean lid. Optionally, Fidlock also offers a special cap made of medical silicone with the Dust Cap for Keego to protect the EasyClean mouthpiece from dirt and dust. And last but not least, the bottle always stays where it belongs - on the TWIST base, even on the roughest tracks.

Bicycle water bottles are assigned quite extensive, almost insurmountable tasks: Always within reach, with a firm and secure fit in the appropriate holder, yet easily removable; lightweight yet with a high capacity, squeezable with minimal effort and at the same time shatterproof, BPA-free, odorless as well as taste-neutral and dishwasher-safe, including an ergonomic mouthpiece with high water flow and additionally in an unobtrusive - better yet: stylish - design.

The TWIST X KEEGO bottle 600 actually masters almost all of these tasks with flying colors - only squeezing it one-handed, it does not allow (especially easily) and not much water comes out either.*** Details for the connoisseur who wants to benefit from the multitude of its other features, who does not often reach for the bottle on rides under three hours anyway and is not in a particular rush if he does. However, this is a showstopper for the racer who wants to squirt the maximum amount of water into his gills one-handed and within a few seconds amidst the tightly packed peloton and maximum race stress.

*** Keego Extra Flow Update: The replaceable mouthpiece allows for a significantly higher flow rate thanks to its enlarged drinking opening. The accessory is made of pure silicone, easily replaceable, dishwasher-safe and available in various colors.

The set price of 59.99 Euros for the bottle, adapter, and frame holder is generally okay if you add up the 39.90 Euros for the TWIST-less KEEGO bottle, the 19.99 Euros for the TWIST bottle connector, and the 12.99 Euros for the stylish TWIST bike base bottle holder - but it's no real bargain.
