24.04.26 06:12 272026-04-24T06:12:00+02:00 Erwin Haiden (translated by AI) Erwin HaidenOn May 1, the summer season on the Wexl Trails begins with ABUS as a new partner. Together with Tom Öhler, Gabriel Wibmer and Bernd Winkler, we attended the preview of the new helmet in St. Corona.24.04.26 06:12 272026-04-24T06:12:00+02:00ABUS is the new partner of the Wexl-Trails and that is good news in several respects: On the one hand, you now have the opportunity to get to know the extensive ABUS portfolio directly at the Wexl Base rental and to test individual helmets under real-world conditions, on the other hand ABUS is making a strong statement and underlining the importance of the entire helmet range.
At last week's presentation, in addition to numerous specialist dealers, Tom Öhler, Gabriel Wibmer and Bernd Winkler — three stars of the MTB scene and ABUS ambassadors — were also present, and for a very specific reason.
Before the new factory in the heart of the European cycling industry goes into production, ABUS introduced, alongside new colors for existing models, a brand-new MTB helmet, about which we can only reveal this much: it is Made in Italy and a genuine flagship product — highly technical, full of features and — as the Cliffhanger already on my head proved — extremely comfortable. It immediately won my heart and will, for various reasons, probably become my new go-to helmet for all situations... Details will follow shortly.
Before heading up the mountain to test out the new trails and helmets, the three brand ambassadors put on a top-notch show for us. In addition, 13-year-old Finn Knoll, Starbike’s junior rookie, dares to fight it out with the pros and delivers just as impressively as he does later on the jumpline. Kudos! Bernd, Gabriel and Tom leave no doubt as to why they belong to the stars of the scene, and somehow I have the suspicion they’re cheating a bit with their tricks. How else can you explain that the tires fit in a 7-meter stoppie between two Red Bull cans that feel closer together than the width of a tire.
Maybe that can still be cleared up on the uphill, with Tom Öhler as an e‑bike guide, while the other groups take the shuttle. The lifts, including the new Teichalm lift complete with ABUS branding, open, as mentioned above, on May 1st. The following new trails are available to you:
Terence Thrill - a black singletrack - starts at the level of the reservoir and runs as directly as possible down to the entrance of the pond lift. Technical sections, small gaps and plenty of speed are on the menu there.
38 Chuck NoRisk - blue singletrack
Singletrack fun for everyone! A blue trail designed to introduce beginners to the world of singletracks and to bring them to the technical routes in a safe way. The trail is meant to bridge the gap between the flow trails and the red singletracks and thus contribute to rider progression.
33 Charlie Jibline - red jumpline
The upper flow trail is becoming a jib line! The popular upper flow trail from the reservoir downwards is set to become even more exciting; it will offer a varied course design, playful features and even more jumps.
36 Tiny Turner - blue flow trail
The first part of the new Tiny Turner flow trail was already opened in autumn 2024. In the same style it will continue to the lift entrance (pond lift) — lots of direction changes, laid-back berms and a guaranteed flow.
I had an absolute blast for a day with the ABUS team, the new helmet and the trails of the Wexl-Trails and I will definitely be coming here more often next season to work on my technique. Shoutout at this point to Tom from Bikeschool Pekoll.
