Cooling vests are nothing new in cycling and are often used by professionals when warming up for time trials. However, they are usually bulky, impractical, and uncomfortable. Velotoze has now developed a cooling vest in the form of a baselayer, suitable for training sessions on the indoor trainer as well as for outdoor warm-ups.
The Velotoze cooling vest is soft, made from breathable and moisture-regulating mesh, and features a full-length front zipper for easy on and off. It has specially placed pockets for reusable cool packs.
Indoors, it is worn like a baselayer, and during outdoor warm-ups, it fits over the TT suit or jersey.
Our racing machine Pavelderzug has tested the vest for you - so far only indoors.

The Cooling Packs should be placed flat in the freezer for at least six hours before the ride. Shortly before starting the training, insert the cooling packs into the respective pockets: two small cooling packs in the side pockets, one small one in the lower back pocket, and the large one in the upper back pocket. If necessary, the cooling packs can be replaced.
Care instructions for the vest: Hand wash with cold water, air dry, do not bleach or iron.
Care instructions for the cooling packs: Wash and dry after use.
Pavelderzug's practical experiences
So far, I have used the vest five times indoors, twice during high-intensity races lasting a little over an hour.
With outdoor temperatures over 30 degrees, it was correspondingly warm in the Zwift chamber. The vest provided a noticeable and pleasant cooling effect for about 40-45 minutes.
Thanks to the full-length zipper, you can also ride with the vest fully open on the trainer, which, in combination with the cooling packs, ensures maximum cooling effect.
The other three times were training sessions that were not comparable in intensity to the races. In these cases, the cooling effect lasted longer and lasted about up to an hour.
Even though I can't provide measurable effects, I found the cooling to be very pleasant. The classic overheating that I know from indoor cycling can definitely be delayed with it.
My primary area of use is clearly indoor racing and intense training sessions, especially in high ambient temperatures. Additionally, the vest could be considered for cooling down during warm-ups for time trials on the trainer (see photos below).
Tip: The cooling effect could be extended by using additional cooling packs, by swapping out the first ones as soon as they lose their effectiveness. However, (without assistance) only the packs under the arms and the upper one on the back can be changed while wearing the vest.

BB Verdict: | Comfortable and effective cooling during indoor training and warm-up |
The Velotoze Cooling Vest is a special mesh baselayer with pockets for cool packs and at the same time the first product of its kind that we have reviewed. It is easy to handle and offers good cooling function, but it is two to three times more expensive than most performance mesh baselayers that do not have such pockets.
In practical use, our tester Pavelderzug was immediately impressed after the first hard Zwift races he rode with it. The cooling duration was sufficient in most cases. Even after the cooling packs started to warm up, they provided - depending on the intensity - up to a full hour of additional comfort.
After use, the packs only needed to be rinsed with water and placed in the freezer. Washing the vest was also not a problem. After several washes in the washing machine (tip: zip up the zipper), it is still in good condition and fits perfectly.
