Gravel Ride - Schönberg Loop 02

Forest paths, gravel roads, and ridge trails: The bike routes in the Kamptal Nature Park in the southeastern Waldviertel are perfect for gravel biking. Because where conventional road bikes reach their limits – whether on gravel roads, farm tracks, or trails – more robust Anyroad bikes show their capabilities and open up new possibilities. From relaxed panoramic rides to demanding sporting challenges – in the Waldviertel, everyone can find the right gravel pleasure.

To better navigate the variety, Bikeboard presents its best tours and review tracks in the form of POV photos, a time-lapse video (available as a still image upon request), and an interactive Komoot map with GPS download. Most tours are interconnected, mainly run on public roads and forestry tracks, and can be legally ridden, to our knowledge (as of 15.5.2024).

The complete loop is definitely challenging, and the riding time is expected - depending on the pace, riding skills, and potential breakdowns or breaks - to be between 3 and 5 hours. Right at the beginning, the tour takes an extra loop along the forest discovery path above the rooftops of Schönberg, before making the ascent towards the Kamptalwarte, the lookout tower on the "Rieslingberg" Heiligenstein.

Note: Those who do not have the necessary motivation, condition, a sufficient gear ratio, frame comfort, or the appropriate riding technique, can safely skip the first 13 km and 250 meters of elevation (following the tracks of the Langenlois XC race) and start their gravel adventure directly at the Kamptal federal road in Schönberg am Kamp.
