Note: An Apple AirTag uses Bluetooth and the Apple Find My network to anonymously transmit its location to nearby Apple devices, so it can then be displayed in the user's own iOS app "Find My".
Now, with the AirBell Pro, a completely newly developed bicycle bell has been presented, which contains an integrated chip from the factory and uses the Apple Find My network out-of-the-box, without additional effort or cost.
We tested the newcomer on NoPain's daughter's new station bike.
AirBell Pro
Visually, the AirBell Pro resembles a typical black budget bell, like those often supplied with bicycles. But appearances are deceiving: Inside the bell is a specially developed chip that connects directly to your iPhone and reveals the location of the bicycle around the clock via the Apple Find My network.
The system is considered particularly low-maintenance, as it is powered by a single CR2032 button cell battery that only needs to be replaced once a year. A security lock ensures that the bell can only be opened by those in the know. The clapper is also rotatable by 360° and can be adjusted individually. With an IPX5 protection rating, the AirBell Pro is water-resistant and withstands rain without any problems.
Unobtrusive, but smart!

The Kling-Kling Upgrade
As already mentioned, the AirBell Pro can hardly be distinguished from a regular bell - unless you take a look at the underside and discover the "CE" mark. This also applies to the installation and functionality: when you strike the clapper, a classic "ring" sounds.
Connect with the iOS app "Find My
To turn on the AirBell Pro, we press the button on the underside for at least 5 seconds until an ascending melody sounds. After that, the AirBell Pro is on and remains so until its battery is empty. We open the Find My app on the Apple device, click on the blue "+" symbol, and select "Add Other Item." Once the AirBell is detected, we tap "Connect," give the AirBell a name, and follow the further instructions.
If the AirBell emits a beep after a double-click, it is connected to the Find My network and ready for use.

BB Verdict: | Find My Undercover. |
Unpacked, peeled off the contact paper, set and screwed in the clapper - then simply connected as usual with the smartphone and done. By the way, I didn't tell my daughter that I replaced the bell. She's been riding around with it for a few days now and hasn't noticed any difference.
Overall, I feel much better now when the expensive "kids' bike" is parked at the station every day in any weather. As a test, I was able to locate the bike several times without any problems. Of course, there is no guarantee that it will be found after a theft, but for the few euros that an AirBell Pro costs to purchase, at least hope remains.
